BIERGARTEN AND SUN TERRACE

Our beer garden in front of the building is in close proximity to the children's playground. It offers 200 seats and has the advantage that here the parents can watch their children at play and enjoy their day fully. In the winter the terrace is a meeting point for the sportsmen to have a little snack or for après-ski.

HISTORY

In 1952, after the construction of the new ski jump, the Wurmberg by husband and wife Ursula and Oscar Wesche gastronomically developed in pioneering work. They targeted a small, simple but attractive dining room, the tower room in the middle of the jump tower. Because there was no access road and no lift, drinks and eatables had to be worn on the mountain. Shortly thereafter, Oskar Wesche built a goods-lift that extended from the outlet of a ski jump up to the mountaintop. With this lift now the goods could be transported for the tower room, and later to the “Wurmbergbaude”. 1975 Oscar Wesche built an aqueduct on his own, which was pumping water from a deeper source on the mountaintop, before the water has been transported in containers on the mountains top with a freight elevator. After the small tower room wasn’t enough for the increasing number of visitors, so in 1962 a larger restaurant was built next to the tower – the “Wurmbergbaude”. It has been constantly modernized in the following decades.

Additional information on the history of the Wurmbergbaude and the ski-jump can be found on the homepage of the owner, Mrs. Lauber
